YOURS & THEIRS
Thank you so much for your support - The Llamas and people of access Llamas are now on a well deserved winter break - see you soon!
By having a great time on a llama walk and seeing our Animal Assisted Activity Llama's up close and personal you're helping our charity support the community and their mental well-being.
Your money goes towards everything from feeding and providing health services to these beautiful animals to subsidising a Llama interaction for someone in need.
-Never has doing good been so much fun-
We provide a service where people with physical, neurological disabilities and mental health disorders can find meaningful purpose in caring for and handling Llama and improving their mental well-being.
We visit schools, interacting with at risk youth and are working towards being able to provide interactions in an on-site capacity with a local special education program.
The llama provide a calming influence on the children and also provide an incentive based positive reward system for the teachers/carers.
Llama’s innate natures are often ideally suited to promote therapeutic disclosures and to enhance therapeutic progress. The Person-Centred Counselling approach mentions three conditions that must be present in order for therapeutic growth to occur: 1) genuineness; 2) unconditional positive regard; and 3) empathy. Animals provide these emotions freely and without judgment, in a manner that human counsellors can only strive to achieve.
Access Llamas is an Australian Not for Profit Charity ( 644 736 756 ) located in Clarence Point, Tasmania in the beautiful Tamar valley region.
Our purpose is to promote positive mental health; by promoting inclusion and understanding and engaging & celebrating the strength of the human-animal bond in healing and social interconnection.
To be able to provide subsidised charitable services we give the public the opportunity to experience activities with our lovely Llama.
Walking with a llama isn't just about meeting a llama, they are also about communication, socialisation, fine motor skills, exercise and relaxation.
Llama are a safe and non-threatening large animal that connect well with people in both groups and one on one situations, they provide a non-judgemental and patient friend.
Animals often bring out the best in people and Llama are proficient at calming hyperactive behaviour and stimulating movement and interaction in those with physical disabilities.
Patting and interacting with the llama can help calm anxiety and stress and provide a sense of social interconnection when attending in a group.
Aged care facilities have, in particular, commented to us on return visits the positive effects of the physical and mental stimulation on the residents and improvement in reduction of social disengagement.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals.
Access Llama runs on private donations and paid Llama interactions to be able to provide our charity services.
